Wi-Fi access points typically have a coverage area of 50 to 100 meters depending on the design of the venue. Certain structural features and other physical obstructions such as concrete or metal structures will affect the range of a Wi-Fi signal. Example of these are thick concrete walls, elevator shafts, and comfort rooms (because of piping inlays). Depending on the venue's layout, locations of access points are determined to provide the best possible signal coverage. The typical rule-of-thumb is to find the location where one has the best line-of-sight to most of the area.
